I've been busy cutting Fat Eighths to make some bundles for the shop. It's nice to be able to have smaller pieces of fabric if you're working on a scrappy quilt/project. They would also make a cute little or a quick little gift idea for a quilter or sewer.
I'm also brainstorming packaging ideas for them. I'm thinking clear envelopes that I can dress up with my shop's logo or something. I know - pretty typical for fat eighth bundles.
It may be a little while before I can get them listed as we are moving in a couple of weeks.
Moving will be a daunting task but so worth it. My new office/studio will be much bigger! Woohoo! More room for fabric storage!
I'm also excited for some of the decorating I hope to do in the new house. My oldest son said he wants a pirate room. Riley Blake has some really cool skull and cross bones fabric I will be purchasing for my shop that will be perfect for their room. I will share some tutorials/work in progress pictures of their pirate room coming together.

Friday Favorites
Happy Friday!
Here are a few of my Friday Favorites.
1. This July Star Block quilt from Cluck Cluck Sew. I don't think I will get around to making a 4th of July quilt this year - but this is on my to do list. Love the colors.
2. This Ipad Mini pouch from Sew Caroline. I made one last weekend that I will share soon. The project uses two Fat Quarters and can be done super fast.
3. Giant Ohio Star Quilt from Olive and Ollie. I love how this traditional block can be made to look modern. Love it.
Keeping it short and sweet this week as I'm already (super) late posting this.

Work In Progress - Saltwater
Last week I posted about a "mermaid" quilt I'm making from 5" Charm Packs from Riley Blake's Saltwater collection.
After enduring neck and wrist pain from squaring up Half Square Triangle Blocks (I need a rotating mat) I was finally was able to play with the blocks to see what kind of layout I want to do.
I tried a few layouts - but since I only used 2 charm packs I decided I'd just keep it scrappy.
When I first started this quilt I was thinking about making it for my niece. I decided to go in a different direction with her quilt so I decided to donate this quilt to a charity. As I was quilting it last night I am happy I made the decision to donate this quilt. I'm hoping a little girl will have a fun time looking closely at this quilt to find the cute little mermaids, fish, and narwhals.
I contacted one non-profit organization that accepts quilts but haven't heard back from them yet. I'll be looking into more soon incase I don't hear back from them.
Question:
What organization do you like to donate your quilts to?

Shop Update
Happy Monday!
Wanted to do a quick Etsy Shop update: I got a few goodies in stock last week I wanted to share. I purchased a few bolts of the Anna Elise fabric collection by Bari J. for Art Gallery Fabrics. I hope to be able to order additional fabrics from this line soon.
I also put a couple of fabrics on sale:
The Geo Mist Gold fabric hasn't been listed yet in my shop. It should be listed by the end of the day.
Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Friday Favorites
Welcome to my first installment of Friday Favorites.
This weekly segment will include random favorites from the week....it might be quilts, fabrics, blogs, people, food....
1. Down South Quilt from She Quilts A Lot . I love the colors and the quilt itself. And her photography rocks.
2. I also love She Quilts A Lot's quilt she calls Lickety Split. This quilt uses my favorite block at the moment.....Half Square Triangles. Sounds like she will be posting a tutorial for it soon so keep an eye out!
3. Nib and Pluck Zinnia Fabric from the Petal and Plume Fabric Collection by Bari J. for Art Gallery Fabrics. The entire fabric line is gorgeous. Seriously...pictures do not do it justice. The colors pop against the navy blue background.
4. Simple Simon and Company blog. I spent last Friday night reading through their blog.....beautiful photography, great tutorials, and some great parenting advise.
5. In Color Order's The Art of Choosing series. I've read a few sections so far - but it's on my "to-do" list to finish reading this series. Also - she's releasing a book this fall on Half Square Triangles! I can't wait!
Question: What are your favorites for the week?? It can be anything...fabric, blogs, people, food, lipgloss....I'd love to hear! :D

Work in Progress - Saltwater Charm Pack
I ordered the cutest 5" Charm Pack from Riley Blake to put in my shop and couldn't resist making something with them. It's called Saltwater and was created designed by Natalie Lymer of Cinderberry Stitches.
Are these not the cutest?!? The fabric features mermaids, seahorses, fishes, and narwhals.
I made this cute little picture for Instagram. I thought it was fun and showed the mermaids up close.
I looked though tons of charm pack tutorials but couldn't really decide what I wanted to do. I like quick, simple quilts so I decided to sew some Half Square Triangles and plan the rest of the quilt later.
The thing I love most about HST is that there are an infinite number of ways you can arrange the blocks. It's amazing.
Question:
What is your favorite go to block to make with charm packs?? Let me know :D

Fabric Shop Update
Thought I'd do a quick update on my fabric shop.
I've been ordering a lot of fabric lately. Some has been replenishing stock and others are brand new items in my store.
I'm also expecting a pretty decent sized order from Art Gallery Fabric's Anna and Elise fabric collection on Wednesday. I'm sooooo excited to have it in my shop!
On this blog I will be adding coupons from time to time. So be on the lookout for those :D
These are some of the other new editions to my shop:
I've also replenished my stock of these bad boys:
I put links up to my shop if you're interested in seeing the fabrics in my shop.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Welcome!
Hello! Welcome to my blog!
My name is Deanna. I'm a mommy to two little boys (4 years old and 2 years old), a wife to a great husband, and owner of La Petite Fabric Shop on Etsy.
I made my very first quilt back in 1997 when I was about 13 years old. I joined the quilting group as part of my 4-H club. It was one of those blankets that folds up into a pillow. It actually only has one quilt block on the whole thing. We still have it at home and my boys like to curl up with it. Who knew something I made at 13 would be used by my children.
After that I made a log cabin quilt with stars and moons (remember in the 90's when stars and moons were super popular??) My little sister somehow snagged that quilt years and years ago....I wonder if she still has it.....It's possible that it is a pile of rags now...I wasn't great with sewing in a straight line. lol
I've quilted on and off since then. Honestly sometimes more off than on. Life gets busy. And aside from the few lessons I had during 4-H that one year I'm entirely self taught.
I opened my Etsy Fabric Shop in November 2014 and I have been loving it. It's still a very small shop but something I've been putting a lot of effort into growing. I feel like I work on it almost all the time. Even if I'm not physically doing something for the shop I'm usually always thinking about it.
I will probably end up writing about it here and there if people end up being interested. I feel like there is a ton that goes on behind the scene of Etsy Shops.
Thank you for visiting my blog. I am excited to see where it goes and hope to make this a fun and happy place for people to "hang out".
I love comments so feel free to leave some :D
Thank you again for visiting!
